President Donald Trump said Tuesday from Washington that his administration will ban the terms “AI” and “artificial intelligence” in relevant documents and “everything else,” preferring “Super Intelligence,” or SI, Reuters reported.
“When will The Wall Street Journal start calling Artificial Intelligence (AI), a very bad and inaccurate name, SI (Super Intelligence), the name which virtually everyone else is using, or soon will be,” Trump said in a Truth Social post, according to Reuters. “In short order, we will be officially BANNING the term, ‘AI/Artificial Intelligence,’ in all relevant documents, and everything else, due to its inaccuracy.”
The Reuters account, also carried on a StreetInsider Reuters wire mirror, frames the remarks as a stated intention tied to the Truth Social post. It does not report that a new ban order was issued alongside the message. Reuters attributed the item to reporters Bhargav Acharya and Daphne Psaledakis, with editing by Doina Chiacu. How federal agencies would apply a document-wide ban, and how it would interact with existing statutes that still use the term artificial intelligence, was not detailed in the free text.
Trump’s Truth Social statement follows earlier White House moves on the same terminology. AI Tech Daily previously covered Trump naming Jay Clayton as AI czar to lead a Super Intelligence Force and a Justice Department directive telling staff to use Super Intelligence, including in court filings. Those earlier steps are separate from Tuesday’s Truth Social statement, which Reuters treated as a forward-looking ban pledge rather than a completed legal action.
