Salesforce says it signed a definitive agreement to acquire Cresta

Salesforce said on Monday, Nov. 2, that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Cresta, which it describes as the voice-first operating system for customer experience, according to its announcement. Salesforce did not disclose a price. Reuters carried a report from The Information that put the price at $2.7 billion. Trade coverage, including The Agile Brand Guide, said The Information cited a person familiar with the deal. Salesforce’s announcement gave no purchase price or deal structure, and AI Tech Daily found no report that confirms the $2.7 billion figure independently of The Information.

Salesforce said Cresta’s voice agents resolve complex customer calls end to end, and that its platform guides human representatives in real time and analyzes every interaction. It said Cresta’s voice agents operate at enterprise scale for brands including Marriott, Comcast and Alaska Airlines.

Salesforce said it plans to combine Cresta with Service Cloud so that businesses can connect every conversation to the customer and to the outcome it drives: resolution, retention and revenue. After the transaction closes, Cresta will continue to support the contact center and telephony platforms its customers use today, Salesforce said.

“Voice is where service is hardest to get right, and where it matters most to customers,” said Kishan Chetan, executive vice president and general manager of Agentforce and Service Cloud at Salesforce. Cresta CEO Ping Wu said the combination will let the company embed “real-time conversation intelligence and agentic experiences” directly into Salesforce’s customer service platform.

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal year 2028, subject to customary closing conditions, including required regulatory approvals, Salesforce said. The Agile Brand Guide and CMSWire put that quarter at February through April 2027. The announcement did not say how the purchase would be financed or how many Cresta employees would join Salesforce.

In September, Salesforce took part in a $550 million Series C for Wonderful, a startup that builds customer-service AI agents, AI Tech Daily reported citing TechCrunch, Bloomberg and Channel NewsAsia.
