OpenAI on Thursday launched ChatGPT for Financial Services, a tailored enterprise build aimed at investment bankers and equity researchers. The product runs on GPT-6 Astra and ships with built-in access to financial datasets including PitchBook, Daloopa, LSEG News, Crunchbase, and Quartr, Reuters reported. Morgan Stanley and Evercore served as design partners, OpenAI said; CNBC cited product vice president Nick Turley describing the goal as teaching ChatGPT to research and cite like an analyst.
Users can research companies across multiple sources, build models, and generate client materials such as pitchbooks using a firm’s own templates, according to the Reuters account. OpenAI said the data is indexed on its infrastructure to improve retrieval and citation. Firms that already buy market data can connect subscriptions through integrations with FactSet, S&P Global, Preqin, and Datasite. The offering builds on ChatGPT Enterprise controls—role-based access, encryption, and exportable workspace logs for compliance—and is initially available to eligible institutions through OpenAI sales rather than a self-serve consumer checkout.
Turley told CNBC the company plans sector-specific builds beyond financial services and framed the tool as an efficiency boost for analysts working long hours, comparing it to how Excel changed bank workflows. The launch lands as OpenAI pushes enterprise revenue and as rivals court the same regulated buyers; Anthropic previously shipped Claude for Financial Services.
