Google is rolling Google Photos into Gemini Spark, its personal agent, so subscribers can ask the agent to search, organize, edit, and share their libraries without clicking through the Photos app, The Verge reported Friday, citing Google’s Gemini Apps Help documentation. 9to5Google carried the same rollout with a fuller action list.
The update is going out over the next few weeks to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the United States. When it lands, Spark users can prompt the agent to find photos and videos by subject, location, date, or event, filter duplicates, enhance or stylize shots (edits save as new copies), build private or shared albums, and hand album links into Connected Apps such as Gmail, Docs, and Messages. Google Photos lead Shimrit Ben-Yair described multi-step examples on X, including trip highlight albums with a drafted email and calendar cross-checks against a concert flyer photo.
Spark can also schedule recurring photo chores, such as monthly highlight albums or receipt sorting, and extract text from images for use in Docs or other connected tasks. Google says new albums start private, edits create copies rather than overwrite originals, and Spark asks before sharing albums or sending email.
This is the next first-party app hook for Spark after Gmail, Docs, and Keep Live coverage earlier this week. It is a consumer agent-workflow story about Photos library control inside Google’s paid Gemini tier, not a model launch.
