Clay raises $115M at $7.1B valuation as AI agent startups heat up

Clay, the New York software startup whose AI tools automate sales and marketing work, said on September 9 it raised $115 million at a $7.1 billion valuation, Reuters reported. The figure is more than twice the $3.1 billion valuation Clay carried in August 2025, when it raised $100 million in a CapitalG-led round.

Wellington led the Series D, with Sequoia, StepStone, Andreessen Horowitz, and Perennial among the participants, Reuters said. Clay’s customers include Google and Anthropic. The company builds AI agents that analyze business data so sales teams can decide next steps and execute those actions.

Co-founder and CEO Kareem Amin said Clay began by aggregating B2B data, then built campaign infrastructure on top of it, and is now shipping agents meant to help companies grow. Founded in 2017, Clay sits in the crowded AI-agent financing wave that has pushed valuations higher as investors chase automation tools for go-to-market teams. This brief covers the September 9 Reuters report on the closed Series D terms.
