Apple turned the Apple Watch Series 12 into an on-wrist AI recorder at its September 9 “Surprise and shine” event, CNBC reported from Cupertino. Alongside health scoring and coaching updates, the company introduced Audio Intelligence, a feature that uses the Watch microphone to capture conversations and let wearers play back what they just heard.
Live rewind jumps back 15 seconds when a detail is missed. Siri Recap goes further: Apple said the Watch can use ambient listening to take high-level notes from meetings or parent-teacher conferences, then generate a title, summary, and key points with Apple Intelligence. Presenters framed the feature as private, saying it would not store audio recordings or share them with Apple. CNBC reported the tools will arrive in beta later this year.
The Watch AI package sits beside the day’s bigger Siri AI and iPhone 18 Pro pitch. Apple also held Series 12 pricing at $399 and up, with Ultra 4 starting at $799, and did not raise Watch prices the way it did for iPhone 18 Pro. Separately, Apple unveiled its first foldable, iPhone Duo, starting at $1,999, and said the Duo’s in-house C2 modem uses AI algorithms to improve cellular reliability in low-coverage areas.
