Anthropic said to target IPO before Thanksgiving, plans Oct. 14 investor day

Anthropic IPO calendar highlighting November window and Oct. 14 pre-IPO investor day

Anthropic is seeking to go public as soon as the middle of November and could begin formal marketing for its IPO as soon as the week of Nov. 9, putting it in line to start trading before Thanksgiving on Nov. 26, Bloomberg News reported, according to people familiar with the matter carried in a Financial Post reprint. Dealmaking typically slows in the days around the holiday, Bloomberg’s account noted.

The Claude maker is still expected to debut no later than year-end, the people said, though deliberations remain ongoing and the timeline could keep shifting. Anthropic had been poised to file publicly for an IPO after the summer, Bloomberg has previously reported, before the plans were pushed back. In a same-day follow-up, Bloomberg said Anthropic is set to hold a pre-IPO investor day on Oct. 14, according to StreetInsider and Investing.com pickups of the wire. The investor-day wave lands alongside meetings with prospective investors ahead of the marketing window.

Prospective investors believe a fair valuation for Anthropic is in the $1.8 trillion to $2 trillion ballpark, some of the people said, and Bloomberg has reported the company expects to match or beat the size of SpaceX’s IPO, the Financial Post and a Moneycontrol Bloomberg pickup said. A representative for Anthropic could not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The calendar push comes as Anthropic faces renewed competition from OpenAI, which has gained sales momentum and has postponed its own IPO plans, Bloomberg’s account said. Powering ahead would put Anthropic on a tighter listing path than many peers that have delayed debuts this year, though sources stressed the window remains fluid.
