Meta on Monday launched Meta Enterprise Platform, what founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg called the next major pillar of the company’s business, to sell its AI models, agents and tools to companies, according to a Meta Newsroom post. The company named Chirantan “CJ” Desai, who stepped down as MongoDB CEO after less than a year, as Chief Enterprise Platform Officer reporting directly to Zuckerberg.
Meta said it will initially bring its full technology stack to businesses and developers, including the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code. Zuckerberg framed the move as extending Meta’s existing consumer and advertising reach into enterprise AI, citing advanced models, leading agents, large-scale infrastructure and years of working with businesses. The new unit is pitched as helping companies use AI to grow and transform operations, not only to advertise.
Desai joins from MongoDB, where he was CEO and President. Before that he led product and engineering at Cloudflare and spent nearly eight years at ServiceNow, including as President and COO, Meta said. In a statement accompanying the launch, Desai said Meta Enterprise Platform will turn Meta’s AI stack into products and services companies can deploy for their own businesses. “As with Muse, security and privacy are built into Meta’s enterprise products from the outset,” he said.
Reuters reported that MongoDB shares fell about 20% in premarket trading after the company said Desai will step down, and that MongoDB named Dev Ittycheria — whom Desai succeeded in November — as interim president and CEO while it searches for a permanent chief.
The enterprise push lands as Meta continues to commercialize Muse beyond consumer apps. Prior AITD coverage tracked Muse’s Wall Street and revenue framing as Meta pressed its agent stack into new distribution.
