Anthropic is combining Claude chat and Cowork in one interface, bringing Artifacts and Claude Design into the same workspace as it adds tools for creating documents and presentations. Reuters and TechCrunch reported the changes Wednesday.
Users will no longer need to decide which Claude tab fits a task. The unified interface can automatically route a request to the relevant capability, while chat, Cowork, Artifacts and Claude Design remain available in one window, according to the reports. Anthropic said the change responds to user frustration over choosing the right tool before starting work.
Anthropic is also introducing Claude Docs and Claude Slides in beta. Users can create, edit and present work with the new tools. Docs lets people work alongside Claude to create sections, ask questions and comment on completed parts. Slides can produce presentations for editing and presenting, with exports to PowerPoint or PDF files.
Documents and slides can be shared by link, and users can edit them on a phone, TechCrunch reported. A user can start creating a document on a desktop and check the task’s progress from the mobile app, extending the unified workflow across devices.
The rollout starts with Pro and Max subscribers on the web, desktop and mobile over the coming weeks. Anthropic plans to bring the features to Team and Free users later.
The move follows OpenAIs July launch of ChatGPT Work, which combined its chatbot with its Codex coding tool, Reuters reported. The product changes show how the major AI companies are competing to make assistants useful for broader workplace tasks, without forcing users to pick a specialized mode before they begin.
