Google is shipping conversational voice features inside Gmail, Docs, and Keep, TechCrunch reported Thursday. The company previewed the tools at I/O in May and is branding them Gmail Live, Docs Live, and Keep Live. A Google Workspace blog post said the launch uses Gemini Audio models and is rolling out this week.
Gmail Live replaces typed search with spoken questions about what is already in the inbox. TechCrunch said users see a live transcript while they talk to the Gemini assistant. Engadget said the assistant can answer follow-ups and surface links back to the emails it used.
Docs Live is the drafting partner. Users describe what they want written, and the assistant builds a first draft. With permission, TechCrunch and Google said it can pull context from Gmail, Drive, Chat, and the web. Google called it a hands-free thought partner for structuring and refining tone.
Keep Live turns spoken brain dumps into notes and lists. TechCrunch used Google’s grocery example: ask for shakshouka ingredients and Keep builds the list. Engadget said Keep Live can also add items to an existing list and is Android-only for now.
Availability is tiered. TechCrunch said Gmail Live is for Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra; Docs Live and Keep Live are for Pro and Ultra. Google’s own post put Keep with Plus as well as Pro and Ultra, and limited Docs Live to Pro and Ultra. Features are in English on iOS and Android, TechCrunch said, with Workspace business customers still waiting.
This is the consumer voice layer Google has been stacking onto Workspace since I/O, not a new frontier model.
